AI Tab Organizer

Updated June 17, 2026

Privacy,
in plain sight.

AI Tab Organizer groups your open tabs with an AI model you choose. Here is exactly what it touches and where it goes — no servers, no tracking, no data sale.

Reads
Your open tab titles & URLs — only when you click Organize.
Sends to
Only the one AI provider you pick — Gemini, OpenAI, or Claude.
Stores
Your key & settings locally on your device. Nowhere else.

What the extension accesses

  • Open tab titles and URLs — read only when you click "Organize my tabs," and only to categorize those tabs into groups.

  • Your AI provider API key — the key you enter in Settings for your chosen provider (Google Gemini, OpenAI, or Anthropic).

  • Your preferences — selected provider, optional model name, and toggle settings (collapse groups, include pinned tabs).

How the data is used

When you click "Organize my tabs," the extension sends the titles and URLs of your open tabs, together with your API key, directly from your browser to the AI provider you selected, over HTTPS. The provider returns a suggested grouping, which the extension applies as Chrome tab groups.

Your API key and preferences are stored locally on your device using Chrome's storage API. They are never transmitted anywhere except, for the API key, to the provider you chose, to authenticate your own request.

Tab titles and URLs are processed in memory to build the request and are not stored or logged by the extension.

Third-party AI providers

The extension only contacts the single provider you select. Data you send is handled under that provider's own privacy policy:

If you choose Chrome's built-in Gemini Nano (on-device AI) or the "None" provider, no data leaves your browser at all — grouping happens entirely on your device.

What the extension never does

  • No analytics, tracking, or telemetry
  • No developer server — we never receive your data
  • No selling or transfer of user data
  • No personal, financial, health, or location data

Data retention & control

Your settings and API key remain on your device until you change or remove them. You can clear them anytime by removing values in Settings or uninstalling the extension, which deletes all locally stored data.

Children

The extension is a general productivity tool and is not directed to children under 13.
